This is about giving it your all. Laying down everything you’ve got, 100%, 24/7, and coming up short … Ever had that feeling?
I’m all for goal setting, reaching for the stars, chasing dreams – don’t get me wrong.
But there are times – the moments in life that stop us in our tracks – when time stands still with the harsh realization that ALL we’ve given has come up short.
In this ‘ah-ha’ moment, I feel a smile, deep down inside. Remembering, my works were never meant to be enough. I came into this world ‘short sided’, by God’s loving design. My best is not good enough – my work is limited to the rising and going down of the sun.
All of the sudden, I feel small. I hear the voice of reason – truth once sown into my soul, now calling back to me …
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” I Corinthians 12:9-10
Then my ‘inside’ smile makes its way to my outside world.
And I find rest – in The Maker’s Design.
